to constitute flowers requires the early blooming plants in late winter
and early springtime somewhat more of moisture |

Description |
underground growing Gymnocactus
oblong, ± clavate, about 5 cm (2 in) long, to about 3 cm (1.2 in) Ø, leaf green, simple with long necked tap root
young areoles with many white wool
about 16 radial spines, to 6 mm long, radial, white
2 central spines, 2 cm (0.7 in) long, one is erected, blackish gray
bristles more than 3 cm (1.2 in) long, adjacent, white
flowers 3 cm (1.2 in) Ø, pink violet, self-pollination
fruits globular, wine-red
